Picking up Momentum: VisionQuest Episode 3 & 4 Review
The episodes 3 and 4 just dropped of the new MCU series VisionQuest and I have to say that it now looks more promising like Marvel has done some seriously good job on this. Lets start with episode 3 where it picks up from the scene of Tommy and Vision who is seriously injured, are running away from Paladin who himself is injured, now we also got the explanation that he got the Adamantium rounds and a chest plate which was also also made of Adamantium from the Ten Rings syndicate, yes that same Ten Rings which was shown in the Shang Chi movie, which is now run by Shang Chi's sister after their father's death. This is much better a what I earlier thought was just lazy writing. Moving on we see Paladin is able to trace Vision due to the Coolant traces that are leaking because of the injury, Vision and Tommy are hiding in a lodge, Tommy gets PTSD by seeing a swimming pool and Vision notices it. We get a good amount of conversation between Vision and Tommy and simulations of them, also in between conversations going on between Vision and Ultron, we also see the funeral of Jarvis inside the virtual Vision Mansion, its a very emotional scene, I am not telling it here it has to be seen. We also find that all the AIs that Tony Stark made were based on real people. Then after Paladin finally traces a synthezoid from the coolant traces but when he reaches the place its not Vision, there he finds Jacosta another synthezoid, her AI was said to be made very early even before Jarvis, actually she was a part of a AI project or the AI project we don't know clearly that later Tony Stark bought and used as a prototype for his other AIs. We also see the AIs finding out about her when she possesses Vision mind or say hack it then EDITH does some exorcism kinda thing, this scene is actually very funny, and get rid of Jacosta from Vision's mind. They find more about her through news and then they try digging more about the situation and they find all the victims are from that AI project only and only one member is alive, Katarina Wells, who is going to be the next target and she is going to be present in an AI Summit. During the fight between Jacosta and Paladin we also find Paladin's backstory that he had an abusive father who was killed by the actual Paladin and then the Paladin adopted him and passed down the mantel. We also get to know that Paladin has already fought Daredevil, The Punisher and the Werewolf by Night, this is nice, atleast they have given some background to the character that he was already there but just in shadows which feels much better now as a character rather than just a fodder generic bounty hunter assassin. We also find that Jacosta have some different powers like mind reading type which is very similar to that of Wanda's powers work we have seen, I think we see more on it later.
We then see a very nice conversation between Vision and Tommy, where Vision finally starts to understand Tommy and we also get to know Tommy apart from his superspeed has phasing powers like Vision. We also see Tommy help in fixing Vision by using his powers inside a pool by overcoming his fear. Vision also tells Tommy about the AIs and how he don't talk to himself but the other AIs but omits Ultron from that convo.
Then we see them at the party joined by Lisa who helps them get into the summit by her pickpocketing skills and getting the pass to get it. There we get to the first AI ever made J.I.M and is said caught immense fire due to over-oxidation due to processing of emotions or something like that, actually Jim Hammond in comics is the original Human Torch and the first superhero ever introduced in the Marvel Comics and I am pretty sure we are going to him in the future. Then we see Katarina Wells come up the stage and Tommy finding out among those AIs that Vision talks with is also Ultron, then come Jacosta, then we see a fight between Vision, who is weak and is unable to use his powers, get ass-whooped by Jacosta, then Ultron convinces Vision to give the control of the body to him, after gaining control we see Ultron actually lures Katarina and get her killed by Jacosta. We also get to know that Jacosta is either based on or is Dr. Josephine Carrington, who was one of the scientists that worked on the original AI project who died a long time ago. At last we see Utron going with Tommy.
These 2 episodes feels like an upgrade on the previous two mainly because we get the explanation for the assumed weakly written parts and the show flesh outs on the emotion of the AIs that they go through, it really lovely to see them. We also see a good bonding being established between Vision and Tommy that feels really wholesome. I really hope this show stays on this track and we get a really good show.
