Why this Harry Potter Casting is so bad: Paapa Essiedu as Snape

 


As every Harry Potter Fan know that a new series is in the making and as the new cast members are getting announced, each of them will face scrutiny for not living the expectations as the old cast had done a fabulous job in the movie series and even before a teaser one thing that is getting criticism is Paapa Essiedu as new Severus Snape in the upcoming series but why?

Nothing like Books

As the book description for Severus Snape goes-"a thin, sallow-skinned man with a large, hooked nose and long, greasy black hair that often falls into his face. His eyes are described as cold, black, and often shining with an unsettling intensity. His eyes are described as cold, black, and often shining with an unsettling intensity." Obviously the new actors's appearance is nothing like this which is a major reason Potterheads are critisizing this decision of casting Paapa Esseidu as Severus Snape.

Portrays Harry and James Potter as Racist 

In the storyline, Snape is bullied by James Potter(Harry Potter's father) and his friends on a regular basis.

Also Harry Potter accuses Snape of stealing the philosopher's/sorcerer's stone while Snape was trying to protect him and the stone.

Casting a person of color as Snape changes the perspective of the viewers that both Father & Son are somewhat racist and this is not good.

Alan Rickman's Great Performance

No matter wo got casted as Snape, Alan Rickman as Snape was just perfect and living up to that type of performance is very hard and especially after all this blunders that have already been done by the studio, scrutiny is inevitable by the fans.

Giving a Chance

Despite so much negativity we should still give a chance. Who knows Esseidu pull up something amazing and fans actually start loving him. This has happened before, this may happen again.
